SPEED has signed veteran sports journalist Krista Voda to a multi-year deal that will include hosting the network's pre-race show for all of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series races in 2007. Voda also recently signed with FOX Sports as a pit reporter for their NASCAR Nextel Cup Series races in '07. "Krista is a tremendous talent with great passion for her work," said Frank Wilson, SPEED VP of Production. "She understands racing, knows the players, and has a great deal of experience and credibility covering NASCAR and all forms of racing."

Huge Tower to Make Debut at Daytona Speedweeks
- Fans won't have any trouble locating the SPEED Stage this season, as the network has commissioned a 50-foot "Fan Tower" to ensure fans can find their way through the crowd. The rotating SPEED logo at the top of the tower will be lit in the evenings.

SPEED opened 2006 celebrating its 10th Anniversary, and wrapped it up with a fourth consecutive year of viewership growth and the highest Prime and Total Day ratings in network history. Watch the Bodine Bobsled Challenge on SPEED this Saturday, Jan. 6 and Sunday, Jan. 7 from 2-4 p.m. ET.
NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series driver Brendan Gaughan is trading in the horsepower of his No. 77 South Point Racing Chevrolet for a speed fix of another kind this weekend. Friday and Saturday, Gaughan will pilot a bobsled in Lake Placid, NY, as part of the Second Annual Geoff Bodine Bobsled Challenge. The charity event raises money for the Bo-Dyn Bobsled Project, Inc., which creates and builds bobsleds for the U.S. National Bobsled Team at no cost to the athletes. Gaughan, along with several other NASCAR drivers, will drive modified bobsleds on a shorter version of the course that some of the nation's best bobsledders compete on at Mt. Van Hoevenberg in Lake Placid. The course is a 17-turn, ¾-mile track where bobsled speeds will top 60 miles per hour.

SPEED will begin its NASCAR season with coverage of NASCAR Preseason Thunder testing days on Jan. 8 at 7 p.m. ET. The 30-minute highlight shows will feature testing coverage from the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series, NASCAR Busch Series and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series sessions at Daytona International Speedway, giving NASCAR fans their first looks at new drivers, new teams and new race cars.

SPEED will air a 90-minute special highlighting the 2006 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series banquet held earlier this month at the Grand Floridian Hotel and Resort located in Disneyworld on Friday , December 29th at 9 pm Eastern. SPEED will re-air the banquet again at 1 am Eastern on Saturday morning. SPEED, which began broadcasting NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series races live and exclusively in 2003, will continue as the home to the series for at least the next eight seasons. FIM World Superbike was Charter Series on SPEED in '96 -
SPEED has renewed its contract with FGSPORT, the organizers and rights holder of the FIM SBK Superbike World Championship, signing a deal that keeps the high-powered series on the network through 2009. FIM World Superbike was the network's charter racing series when SPEED went on the air as Speedvision in 1996.

SPEED has named six finalists for the inaugural SPEED Performer of the Year, including Fernando Alonso (Formula One), Jimmie Johnson (NASCAR), Nicky Hayden (MotoGP), Sebastien Bourdais (Champ Car), Sam Hornish Jr. (IRL) and Tony Schumacher (NHRA). SPEED is looking for four serious NASCAR fans. The Charlotte-based network will conduct open auditions Dec. 9 at Michael Waltrip's new race shop in Cornelius, N.C. for SPEED Road Tour Challenge, a new reality show scheduled to debut Feb. 22 at 8 p.m. ET. SPEED is in search of four NASCAR fans willing to travel to 13 races from Daytona through Charlotte, competing with each other along the way for a prize package that will include an offer to join the SPEED Road Tour crew for the remainder of the NASCAR season.

Nicole Addison, rear tire changer on the No. 10 Power Stroke Diesel by International race team in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, gets a lot of attention for being the first female over the wall crew member in NASCAR's top three divisions. Although her chosen profession and accomplishments set her apart from most women, for Nicole, reaching this level in the racing profession has even deeper meaning because of what she went through to get here. Born in Tucson, Ariz., Addison experienced a childhood most parents hope and pray against. When she was six years old, Addison was diagnosed with a form of bone cancer and was given just five years to live. Craig Jackson, Steve Davis and Gary Bennett of the Barrett-Jackson Auction Company will be traveling throughout the Food Lion AutoFair car club and car corral display areas, searching for automobiles with interesting stories or unique histories.
