DRIVER: Jon Wood  TRUCK OWNER: Jack Roush

EVENT: Missouri-Illinois Dodge Dealers Ram Tough 200
Gateway International Raceway - Madison, IL
Saturday, July 17, 2004 - 7:00 p.m. (CDT)
Qualifying: Friday, July 16, 2004 - 3:30 p.m. (CDT)
1.25-mile oval, 200 miles/160 laps
2003 Winner: Brendan Gaughan

NOTES  & QUOTES

  • Wood will be racing chassis #34 at Gateway.  This truck was new
at Martinsville, and has also been raced at Mansfield and Memphis.
  • Although Wood dropped one position in points to eighth, he is only
56 points out of fourth place.
  • This weekend's race at Gateway will mark Wood's 75th start in the
    NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.

Jon Wood on Gateway:
"Gateway is tough because it is a very technical track.  There is a lot of shifting and the corners are tight.  Each end of the track is different, kind of like Darlington.  You have to give up some on one end to be good at the other end.  It is up to the driver to figure out the best line to get through each corner and how to negotiate each end.  I've only been there twice before so Friday's practice will be very important.  Hopefully it won't get rained out like the past two weeks.

"We've been really competitive the last two races so that makes me very optimistic for Gateway.  We led 30 laps at Kansas and were on our way to a fourth-place finish at Kentucky until we had a left-rear tire going down toward the end of the race.  We've figured some stuff out with these trucks that is really helping our program on the intermediate tracks."
