Austin Dillon clearly knows a thing or two about going fast, which he demonstrated again Thursday at Kentucky Speedway.
Dillon paced Thursday's final Happy Hour round of practice for the Built Ford Tough 225 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at the 1.5-mile Kentucky track, giving him a sweep of both sessions in his No. 3 Bass Pro Shops Chevrolet.
During Happy Hour, the grandson of team owner Richard Childress had a best lap of 174.718 miles per hour in Happy Hour, narrowly besting the 174.514 mph lap turned by James Buescher in the No. 31 Wolf Pack Rentals Chevy.
Mike Skinner moved up to third fast in the final hour, his International Trucks Toyota lapping at 174.374 mph. Johnny Sauter and Truck Series points leader Todd Bodine completed the top five.
Justin Lofton was sixth, followed by Ricky Carmichael, Aric Almirola, Matt Crafton and Kyle Busch.
SPEED's live coverage of the race begins Friday night with qualifying at 6 p.m., followed at 7:30 p.m. with the "NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Setup."
Bodine heads into the 18th of 25 Truck Series races with a 236-point lead over Almirola, with Sauter third, 303 points back.
