FONTAINE: 'We Definitely Improved' At Chicagoland
TruckSeries.com Report

Chris Fontaine went to Chicagoland Speedway with the goal of learning, and he came away with a 13th-place finish, tying his best NCWTS finish he posted last year at Gateway International Raceway.

Fontaine had qualified the Glenden Enterprises No. 84 Chevy Silverado 14th fastest to start the EnjoyIllinois.com 225, tying his qualifying performance at Pocono Raceway in July.

He ran in the teens for the majority of the 154-lap race and got as high as seventh position during the race. Fontaine ran in the top 15 for half of the race and ran in the top 10 for most of the last third.

"If the last caution had not have come out, we would've gotten our first top-10. We were running ninth, and then the caution came out, and on the last restart we all got piled up and I lost a couple of spots," Fontaine said.

He ranked 11th in number of passes during the race with 17.

Of the 14 NCWTS races Fontaine and the Glenden Enterprises Team have run in 2009 and 2010 to date, they have finished 17th or better in eight of them.

"We finally got to run up front, and I learned a lot about the air. We made a few adjustments during the race and made the truck better and we were able to get into the top 10," Fontaine said. "We are all learning a lot and every race we expect to do better. We definitely improved this race and we will improve on the next one."

The next NCWTS race Fontaine and the team plan to run will be the Mountain Dew 250 fueled by Fred's at Talladega Superspeedway on Oct. 30.
