WHITE: Wants To Tame Darlington
TruckSeries.com Report

After a six-year absence, the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series returns to the 61-year-old Darlington Raceway for a Saturday night shootout under the lights at the track many racers have found too tough to tame. For years Darlington Raceway has been a monument to some of the greatest racing in NASCAR's history.

Jason White and the SS Green Light Racing team believe they are up to the challenge of the tricky track and are ready to avenge their first DNF of the 2010 season following mechanical issues last weekend at Nashville. The team is bringing 50-Cal, the same chassis White ran last week, to the egg-shaped 1.366-mile track in search of its fifth top-10 finish of the 2010 NCWTS season.

"We had a great truck last week at Nashville," White said. "We were headed to the front when we had troubles, so I'm really excited to bring 50-Cal back to Darlington.

"We've got Outdoor Channel Outfitters on the decklid of the GunBroker.com No. 23 again this week. We're going to try to get them a full race this week."

Darlington Raceway is a tricky venue with its old and narrow racing groove that runs right up against the wall. One small mistake can lead to a famed "Darlington Stripe" on the side of your truck.

"You can't avoid it; it's going to happen," said White. "If you're running fast at Darlington, you're eventually going to earn your stripe."

There are just 32 trucks on the pre-entry list for the Too Tough to Tame 200. Only seven of the drivers entered have previously raced at Darlington in the NCWTS. White is one of the seven, having made a start in the series at the historic track in 2001 and finishing 25th.

"I'm sure the track is different. There was no SAFER barrier or any of that stuff when I was there before. I know it's going to be tough, but I'm looking forward to it.," he said.

White stands 10th in the NCWTS points now 14 races into the 25-race 2010 schedule.
