PETERS: Looking To Gain Ground At Iowa

TIMOTHY PETERS QUICK FACTS
Iowa Speedway
Lucas Oil 200
July 11, 2010

Peters at Iowa: The Lucas Oil 200 will mark Timothy Peters' second start at Iowa Speedway as the Camping World Truck Series races at the Newton, Iowa short track for the second time. In this event last season, Peters started 12th and finished eighth.

Back To Short Track Racing: Sunday's race on the .875-mile Iowa short track marks the start of a busy summer filled with some of Peter's favorite tracks. Growing up on the short tracks of Virginia, the driver of the #17 is looking forward to some good old fashioned short track racing under the lights. The series has only been to one true short track so far this season; Martinsville Speedway, where Peters captured a fourth place finish. If that is any indication, the next three weeks at Iowa, Gateway, and ORP should give Peters the momentum he needs heading into a nine week stretch.

Testing at Gresham: In preparation for the Lucas Oil 200, Peters, Lofton and both the #17 and #7 Red Horse Racing teams headed to Gresham Motorsports Park in Georgia for a two day test session. Both trucks were fastest among the Toyota teams participating and crew chief Jeff Hensley thinks the team found some things that will really help at Iowa Speedway. The crew worked to find adjustments that would help the truck turn better without giving up any grip. Hensley feels like they hit on the right combination at the test and looks for it to pay off on Sunday night.

Iowa Native is Longest Standing RHR Employee: This weekend will mark a homecoming for Vinton, Iowa native, Cory White. White grew up in the town just two hours from Iowa Speedway, and cut his teeth in racing on local dirt tracks. White wanted to make the move to NASCAR and used connections to get a job working for a race team in Georgia. That job led to another opportunity at FitzBradshaw Racing in Mooresville, NC in 2003. A year later, White found his home at Red Horse Racing in June of 2004. He is the longest standing employee in the RHR family and was part of the winning crews at Memphis in 2005, Martinsville in 2006, and Daytona in 2010. White serves as a mechanic and front tire carrier on the #17 but he can do just about any job that needs done. White says it brings him great pride that his home state is now a stop on the NASCAR schedule.

Wiss Comes On Board At Iowa: Wiss, a sister company to Crescent Tools, will take over associate sponsorship of the #17 Toyota Tundra at Iowa Speedway. Wiss® cutting products have been earning a reputation for craftsmanship and long life since 1848. Go to any race garage or pit toolbox and chances are you'll find several pairs of Wiss Metalmaster® compound action snips … they've been the preferred brand with sheet metal pros for over 50 years. The wide Wiss product line now includes snips, scissors, industrial shears, utility knives, and HVAC tools … all with famous Wiss quality built in.

Timothy Peters on racing at Iowa Speedway: "I really like racing at Iowa Speedway. We had a good run last year and were able to get a top-10 finish. I'm excited this is going to be a day race. We tested Gresham last week to shake down the truck and figure out a few things that will help us. We should have a good run this weekend and hopefully make up some ground in the point standings. We still have our eye on the prize."

Jeff Hensley on racing at Iowa Speedway: "I love this track because it's a real racers track. We hit on some things at the Gresham tests that should really help us this weekend. We worked on grip and some other things that were issues last year so hopefully we can apply that on Sunday and stay ahead of the game. It would be really nice to take home that trophy and kick off this nine week stretch like we kicked off the season."

Equipment Information: Timothy Peters will compete with chassis #132 in the Lucas Oil 200 at Iowa Speedway. This is the same chassis Peters piloted at Michigan where he started 12th and finished sixth.
