Kvapil Wins 'Bar Fight In A Shoebox' At Bristol

Travis Kvapil, admitting he was "in the right place at the right time," won Wednesday night's O'Reilly 200 when leader Kevin Harvick melted a tire bead and hit the wall on the next-to-final lap. Kvapil, who hadn't won in 29 races dating to June 2002 at Memphis Motorsports Park, avoided Harvick's stricken Chevrolet to beat veteran Robert Pressley by 3.403 seconds. The victory, at an average speed of 88.813 mph, was the third by Kvapil. The driver of the IWX Motor Freight Chevrolet also took the series points lead back from Brendan Gaughan, who finished fourth. Kvapil is eight points ahead with nine races remaining as the lead changed for the fourth time in as many events. Rick Crawford finished third, followed by Gaughan and Dennis Setzer. Chad Chaffin, Jon Wood, Jason Leffler and Harvick completed the top 10. Harvick, who didn't finish, had led from the 75th lap before his misfortune. There were three lead changes among four drivers with six cautions consuming 27 of the 200 laps.  Ted Musgrave won his third Bud Pole of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season on Wednesday, lapping the .533-mile banked concrete speedway at a record average speed of 123.562 mph. Musgrave, driving the Mopar Performance Dodge, was one of six drivers to erase Ron Hornaday Jr.'s four-year-old lap record of 121.213.
