Three-Peat for Brendan Gaughan

Brendan Gaughan, handicapped by several early miscues on pit road, chased down Raybestos Rookie contender Carl Edwards with five laps remaining in Friday's O'Reilly 400K to capture his third consecutive NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Texas Motor Speedway. Gaughan, who averaged a TMS record 140.621 mph in the series' fifth fastest race, matched Jack Sprague's record for consecutive victories at the same track established in 1996-97 at Phoenix International Raceway. Gaughan's No. 62 Orleans Hotel Dodge started fifth in the 36-truck field and led four times for 16 laps. The Las Vegas driver never has finished worse than second in four trips to the 1.5-mile speedway. Edwards, who wrecked two Fords out of Jack Roush's stable last week at Dover International Speedway, held off partner Jon Wood to record his best career finish on the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. Travis Kvapil's IWX Motor Freight Chevrolet took fourth, just ahead of former TMS winner Dennis Setzer in the ACXIOM/Computer Associates Chevrolet. The fast-paced race was slowed just four times by caution for 19 laps. Pole starter Bobby Hamilton finished seventh but increased his series points lead to 73 over Rick Crawford. Crawford's two-season streak of top-10 finishes ended after a lap 148 accident on the backstretch while battling Chad Chaffin for fifth-place. Crawford finished 14th - two laps behind the winner.
