Team Racing’s Hope of a Top 10 Soured at end of Florida Dodge Dealers 250
TruckSeries.ccom Report    Printer Version  Send Story

Lance Hooper gets tangled in crash on lap 93 of 100 lap race.

After a positive week at the Daytona International Speedway, Team Racing’s hopes of a good finish were flushed down the drain. Eighteen laps into the Florida Dodge Dealers 250, Phil Bonifield, driver of the No. 23 Red Line Oil Chevy, pulled off the track when his Craftsman Truck started to overheat. After starting the race in the 23rd position, Bonifield was striving for a top 15 finish.

The second half of Team Racing, Lance Hooper, had higher expectations. Hooper, driver of the No. 86 Lane Automotive / JJ Baker Chevy, was aiming for a top 10 finish. The week started on a high note when Hooper finished in the top position for practice on Wednesday, leaving the whole team pumped up and ready for Friday’s Florida Dodge Dealers 250.

Hooper commented, “We’re going into this race with a very strong truck. We are excited to be able to run up in the front of the pack and to contend with the leaders.”

Unfortunately, luck would not have it that way. After running in the 13th position with less than ten laps left, Hooper got caught up in a wreck involving three other trucks in turn 2. With the severe damage done to the Lane Automotive / JJ Baker Chevy, there was no continuing the race. Hooper would finish the race in the 20th position.

Team Racing is looking forward to starting over on March 14th at the Darlington Raceway.
