Houston Scores Billy Ballew Motorsports' Best Finish in Season Opener
TruckSeries.com Report    Printer Version  Send Story

NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series driver Andy Houston and his Billy Ballew Motorsports team started the 2003 season on a high note by bringing home the team’s first top-five finish.

Houston placed the No. 15 Ford F-150 in the 18th starting position for Florida Dodge Dealers 250, and by the first pit stop he had worked his way up to the fourth position. His Billy Ballew Motorsports team pulled off a speedy stop, making only an air pressure adjustment, which put Houston in the 2nd position for the restart.

Houston was shuffled back to the fourth spot on the restart, but wasted no time bringing the Lufkin Pro Series Ford back to the front to reclaim the second position. Lufkin Pro Series, a tape measure manufacturer joined the team on the hood, the TV panel and in front of the rear tires of the No. 15 Ford, and garnered strong television exposure by running in the top-five the entire race.

Spondivits Food and Spirits, an Atlanta, GA based restaurant and bar also rode with Houston on the rear quarter panel, Vokal Clothing, a new clothing line, was behind the rear wheel, and Earl Small Harley Davidson of Marietta, GA proudly rode on the bed panel as Houston piloted the truck to the team’s best fifth place finish.

“I think this Billy Ballew Motorsports team turned some heads today,” said Houston. “We proved today that we are capable of winning the championship by starting the season with a top-five finish. There is a great chemistry within this team and we are really looking forward to being a contender for the entire season.”

“We have a winning combination and are making a charge for the championship this year,” stated Billy Ballew, owner of the No. 15 Billy Ballew Motorsports Ford. “With one of the top crew chiefs [Gary Showalter] and top drivers [Andy Houston] in the series, this Billy Ballew Motorsports team is going to make our way to the front and hopes to bring home a championship at the end of the season!”

The team continues to look for sponsorship for the entire 2003 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. Anyone interested in joining this successful Billy Ballew Motorsports team, at any level, should contact Ken Hazlett with globalPERFORMANCE Company at (704) 660-3467.

Houston and his Billy Ballew Motorsports team look to better their season opening fifth place finish on Friday, March 14, 2003 at Darlington Raceway. The Craftsman 200 will air live on the Speed Channel and MRN Radio Network starting at 4:00 p.m. EST.
