Stacy Compton will make his 400th career NASCAR start on Saturday when the green flag drops for the Kroger 200. To date, Compton has accrued 88 starts in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, 173 starts in the Nationwide Series, and 138 starts in the Camping World Truck Series.
COMPTON ON RACING AT HIS 'HOME TRACK':
"I've always said that Martinsville is a lot like Daytona for me. It's a huge race because it's near my hometown. I'm very happy that we race there twice a year. If we could win Martinsville, it would be huge for us. I've been close on a lot of occasions, but a win there has got away so far. Hopefully we can change that this weekend. We had a good run there earlier this year and it was the first race that Marcus (Richmond) was Crew Chief. Now, we've had a chance to work together for the past seven months, and I'm pretty excited about our chances this weekend."
COMPTON ON THE KEYS TO WINNING AT MARTINSVILLE:
"Track position is the single most important thing at Martinsville, because it is so hard to pass. Pit strategy is important too. The guys who have won the last couple of years played pit strategy, got out of the pits, and got track position. I think that's going to be the same case this year. The guys that gamble on fuel mileage, the guys that can qualify pretty good and stay up front, are going to be the guys that are a threat to win the race."
COMPTON'S STATS AT THE MARTINSVILLE SHORT TRACK:
Compton will be making his 15th career professional start at Martinsville Speedway when he takes the green flag for the Kroger 200 on Saturday. In addition to six previous starts in the NCWTS at Martinsville, Compton has one start in the NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS) and seven starts in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS).
