"I really like Gateway. I've got a pole there in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and I held the track record there for awhile. I've been real fortunate to run well there in everything that I've ever went there in. It's just a fun race track. It has two completely different corners. You always hear people talking about Pocono being so different, but Gateway is the same way. It's a fun race track for sure. Marcus (Richmond, Crew Chief) sat on the pole there last year. Between me and Marcus, we've had a lot of good runs there. Gateway is one race track that we're really looking forward to going too."
COMPTON CURRENTLY 19 POINTS OUT OF 10TH:
Stacy Compton was 12th in the 2009 Championship Title Chase heading into last weekend's Lucas Oil 200 at Iowa Speedway, but a tight handling truck and a 16th place finish cost the team one spot in the title chase. Compton now sits 13th, only one point out of 12th. The gap on 10th grew from four points to 19, but Compton is looking to make up that ground with a solid top-five run on Saturday at Gateway International Raceway.
THE CREW CHIEF'S CHOICE FOR GATEWAY:
Marcus Richmond, Crew Chief of the No. 60 SafeAuto Insurance Company / Wyler.com Toyota Tundra, has selected chassis number 99 for the Copart 200. This chassis was last raced at Iowa Speedway where it was super fast in practice, but became incredibly tight in race conditions, producing a 16th place finish. Prior to Iowa, this chassis ran at Michigan International Speedway in June where it qualified 16th and finished 19th after being caught up in a wreck. This chassis also ran at California Speedway where it produced a 17th place finish.
COMPTON'S CAREER AT GATEWAY INTERNATIONAL RACEWAY:
Stacy Compton has experienced some success at Gateway International Raceway, having scored a pole there in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series in 1999, where he led 30 laps, and ultimately finishing fourth. Compton also has a solid record at Gateway in the NASCAR Nationwide Series where he has competed five times and led 14 laps in three of those five races. Compton's best Nationwide finish at Gateway came in 2003 when he qualified fourth and finished sixth while driving for Tad Geschickter.
