LAFFERTY: Indy Not So Kind

It was 2004 when Lafferty Motorsports entered into NASCAR's truck series arena for the first time at ORP. "We had high hopes of performing well and was excited because this was our first race with our team."Chris Lafferty said, but as luck or fate may have it shortly into practice a broken shock shredded the left front tire and any hopes of qualifying for the race.

The next time Lafferty came to ORP again with high hopes in 2006 unloading with a truck quick enough to qualify. "We had some communication issues which led us to dialing ourselves right out of the race." The Lafferty team would fail to qualify by .02 .

Present day, 2009 Lafferty again points the hauler towards ORP with hopes of running well. "This year our short track porgram has picked up, and has been as good as it has ever been". The Lafferty team had high hopes of getting the handle on this track that is very special to Chris Lafferty. "I have a lot of family in Indy and you always want to do well to make them proud". Indy gave very little slack this day for the Lafferty team with a handling problem that turned raceday into a test day. "We just could not get the truck to turn, we came here to run hard, we brought a truck that could get beat up, but we were the ones beat up".

A 30th place finish is all the Lafferty team has to show. "I'll take it, it will be baby steps at this track for us and it is better than a DNQ".
