On Friday night, after an up and down day of practice and a twelfth-place
qualifying effort, Todd Bodine put the No. 30 Ventrilo Tundra to work for 200
laps of NASCAR Camping World Truck Series short-track racing at O'Reilly Raceway
Park. He worked with crew chief Mike Hillman Jr. to determine which changes they
should make to improve the truck. After the second round of pits tops were
completed, and the pit crew gave Bodine two key spots on the race track along
with changes, the Ventrilo Tundra came to life.
"What I will remember from tonight's race, is how hard everyone at Germain
Racing worked to get the Ventrilo Tundra to the front of the field. I am very
proud of what we were able to do here at O'Reilly Raceway Park. I think every
race fan, every crew member and every driver here knew that the Ventrilo Tundra
was one of the top trucks tonight. Our driver (Todd Bodine) put on a good show
for the fans - if you don't love what Todd and Kyle (Busch) did tonight, then
you don't love racing," said Mike Hillman Jr., crew chief for the No. 30
Ventrilo Tundra.
Todd Bodine and fellow Toyota driver Kyle Busch put on a twenty-lap, amazing,
flawless and breath-taking display of pure, short-track racing that will be hard
for anyone to forget. Bodine was fourth at the beginning of the second round of
pit stops during the second caution which began at lap 94. Bodine was second pit
stops were completed. Busch was the race leader as the field went back to green
flag racing at lap 102. By lap 126, Bodine and Busch were side-by-side,
door-to-door in a battle that ended with Bodine taking the lead at lap 146.
"We struggled some in practice and our qualifying wasn't very good. We worked on
the Ventrilo Tundra during the first pit stops. We adjusted it again during the
second round of pit stops and made it better and the great work by the Ventrilo
pit crew gave us an opportunity to win. Unfortunately, some contact took us out
of that position," said Bodine, who was running second before becoming part of
the fourth caution of the race at lap 173 and suffering significant damage to
the right front of the Ventrilo Tundra. "When you work all race to get into that
position and a mistake by someone takes you out of that position, it's very
disappointing."
Bodine, who led 23 of 200 laps in Friday night's race, finished 18th while Ron
Hornday Jr. scored the race win. Bodine remains fourth in NASCAR Camping World
Truck Series standings and will race the Ventrilo Tundra again, this weekend, at
Nashville Superspeedway.
