Saturday afternoon, Todd Bodine steered the No. 30 Copart Tundra from a 12th-place start to a tenth-place finish at Memphis Motorsports Park. The Copart Tundra pit crew played a big role in the race results as the team collected its second-best finish at Memphis in the MemphisTravel.com 200.
"Our Copart Tundra was definitely better at the end of the race. Our first adjustments we made were definitely the wrong way. We changed it back the other direction and it was better. Brakes were an issue during the race - between vibrating and having too much rear brake, we struggled. I couldn't put more front brake bias into the truck because it made the vibration worse - it was kind of a 'catch 22.' We missed the setup a little but it was better than we've been here in the past so we can't complain," summarized Bodine of the Memphis race.
Bodine picked up five spots during the first pit sequence. He entered the pits in 15th and returned to the track in tenth place. After determining those changes helped in some areas of the track but hurt the Copart Tundra in others, the pit crew reversed the earlier changes during the second round of pit stops and picked up another two spots in the pits for the Copart Tundra.
"The pit stops were just incredible tonight. The Copart Tundra crew picked up spots even after I got held up by slower trucks coming down pit road. They really did a great job keeping the Copart Tundra in good track position tonight," said Bodine.
The Memphis race concludes a five-race streak of consecutive races for the Truck Series. The Trucks will take two weekends off, returning to action at Kentucky Speedway on July 18th.
After 11 races, Todd Bodine is fourth in the Truck Series championship standings and leads fellow Copart driver and Memphis race winner Ron Hornaday Jr. in the driver points portion of the Copart Challenge of Champions.
