Stacy Compton drove the No. 60 SafeAuto Toyota Tundra to his best career finish at The Milwaukee Mile on Saturday afternoon when he tied his season-best performance of sixth in the rain delayed Copart 200. Compton's solid top-10 run elevated him two positions in the 2009 Championship Point Standings where he currently sits 12th, just one point out of 11th place and 19 points out of the top-10.
"The guys did a great job on the truck," said Compton following the race. "We were really good in the first practice. The second practice, when the sun went away and we got tight. We adjusted a whole lot for the night conditions and we had a lot adjustability built in it. We got shuffled to the back twice and were able to get back through there and we were really good on long runs. The truck was a little bit too free on the early runs and about 10 laps in, it would take off."
Compton's top-10 run came on the four year anniversary for Wyler Racing, who was making their 100th start with the No. 60 Toyota Tundra at The Milwaukee Mile. It was four years ago at The Milwaukee Mile that Jeff Wyler debuted the No. 60 in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. Since then, the team has racked up some impressive statistics, including three wins, four pole positions, 20 top-five and 38 top-10 finishes.
"I'm awful proud of the guys," said Compton. "We needed it. We had three really good trucks the last three weeks and the results haven't shown. We have been running in the top-seven the last few weeks and have not been able to finish. We had a little better truck than where we finished, but we'll take it."
Compton and his SafeAuto team will end a five-week stretch this Saturday when the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series takes on Memphis Motorsports Park for the running of the MemphisTravel.com 200. The 200-lap race will be televised live on the SPEED starting at 5:30 p.m. ET with radio coverage coming to you live courtesy of MRN Radio and Sirius-XM NASCAR Radio Channel 128.
