After three very tough weekends for driver James Buescher and the International MaxxForce Diesel team, the presence of The Milwaukee Mile must be a sight for sore eyes.
Albeit a rookie in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, Buescher is no stranger to the mile-oval in West Allis, Wisconsin. In 2007, the then 17-year-old led 30 laps in the ARCA RE/MAX Series race at the facility before his engine expired. In 2008, he thundered from the rear of a 40-car field in a USARacing Pro Cup Series race to contend for a top-five finish, and in one of his maiden NASCAR Nationwide Series starts, he finished 14th despite a late race pit miscue.
No wonder Buescher is eager for the event at one of racing's most storied venues.
The track could prove to be a beacon of hope for Buescher, who began the season with a strong run at Daytona and followed it up with five-straight finishes of 14th or better. He's also coming off of his third-consecutive top-four finish in ARCA RE/MAX Series competition following last weekend's race at Michigan International Speedway.
Buescher is currently 19th in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series standings, 381 points out of the lead.
Watch James in the Copart 200, airing Friday night on SPEED at 8:30 pm EST. The race will also be broadcast live on local MRN Radio affiliates and Sirius-XM Satellite Radio.
JAMES'S THOUGHTS ON RACING AT THE MILWAUKEE MILE
How do you feel about racing at The Milwaukee Mile? "I circled this weekend on my calendar at the beginning of the season. I love this track—this is probably the track on the Truck Series schedule that I have the most experience racing on. I almost won an ARCA race here, drove from 40th to the front of the pack in a Pro Cup car, and I thought we did well in the Nationwide Series race here last year.
"We're bringing the same truck that finished 11th at Martinsville and I think Jamie (Jones, crew chief) and the crew made it a little bit better. It should be an exciting night for us."
