"Dover is my all-time favorite race track that we race on. Most of us know where we're good at and the track that fits our driving style best. Even though it's known as "The Monster Mile", Dover is that track for me. I think it is a lot of fun to drive for several reasons, but it may be the most physically demanding race track that we visit based on its configuration. The combination of the fast speeds we turn there along with the extremely steep banking makes you feel like you are lifting 1000 pounds over your head for two solid hours. You actually have to position yourself in the seat holding the weight of your body upright, all while driving around tight corners on high banks at 150 mph. It is excruciating at times. One mistake and you're spinning out of control."
COMPTON CONTINUES TO CLIMB IN TITLE CHASE:
Stacy Compton and the Wyler Racing team continue to climb up in the 2009 Championship Title Chase. Compton's ninth place finish at Lowe's Motor Speedway on May 15th helped Compton move into ninth position, just 75 points out of the top-five.
THE CREW CHIEF'S CHOICE FOR DOVER:
Marcus Richmond, Crew Chief of the No. 60 SafeAuto Insurance Company / Wyler.com Toyota Tundra, has selected chassis number 91 for the AAA Insurance 200. This chassis was last raced in the Kroger 250 on March 28th at Martinsville Speedway where it produced a 13th place finish. "It is the same truck we ran at Martinsville," said Richmond. "It responded so well there that I thought it would be a good choice for here at Dover." Prior to racing at Martinsville, this chassis was raced at Bristol Motor Speedway in August of last year where it produced a 23rd place finish due to a late race crash.
COMPTON'S CAREER AT DOVER INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY:
Stacy Compton has logged over 4,505 laps at race pace around Dover International Speedway, having raced there in all three of NASCAR's top-tier divisions. When Compton takes the green flag for the AAA Insurance 200, it will mark his fourth career NASCAR Camping World Truck Series start at the one-mile oval. Most of Compton's laps around Dover came in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series where he logged 1,958 laps in five starts. Compton also has 10 NASCAR Nationwide Series starts at Dover to his credit. Compton has been running at the end of all 18 events he has raced at in Dover, which is a tough feat for anyone at the track known as "The Monster Mile".
