TEAM CHEVY SILVERADO INSIDE THE GARAGE AT DOVER INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY-DAYNE PIERANTONI, GM RACING SILVERADO PROGRAM MANAGER, NASCAR CAMPING WORLD TRUCK SERIES:
"Dover will be the first concrete track that we have run this season. The concrete provides a very consistent race surface which is less sensitive to temperature but it still presents several challenges to the drivers and crew chiefs. The expansion joints in the track surface create high frequency ripples which must be controlled through the shock package in order to maintain the level of grip. There is also a major transition between the front straightaway and turn one where the track drops away causing the trucks to unload and then "land" on entry to the turn prior to taking a set. The crew chiefs that must manage those issues while still dealing with all of the traditional handling characteristics of the trucks.
"The KHI Silverados have really been strong at Dover the last couple of seasons. Ron Hornaday who is coming off of a win last week in Charlotte really likes this track, he won this race in 2007 and appeared to be on his way to a win last year prior to having some engine issues. Matt Crafton also has been good in Dover he had a 5 run last year and was very good last week in Charlotte with a third place finish. His Thorsport team is gunning for their first win of 2009."
