COMPTON: Wants First Win At LMS
05-15-2009 1:05 pm
Stacy Compton has been on a hot streak lately, finishing sixth at Martinsville Speedway and leading laps in Kansas before finishing 13th. Compton hopes to take that one step further by taking home the win tonight in the North Carolina Education Lottery 200. "I'm looking forward to racing at Lowe's Motor Speedway," said Compton. "I feel like we've got a great Toyota for the race. We've ran good there in the past and even better since they repaved it. I'm really not sure why. We feel confident with what we've seen with this truck in the wind tunnel and on the seven post that we'll have as good of a truck as we've had all year long tonight. Marcus (Richmond, Crew Chief) and the guys have been working hard to fine tune our mile-and-a-half program and I think we'll have a shot at a top-five or even a win tonight."
COMPTON CREEPS INTO THE TOP-10 AFTER KANSAS:
By virtue of his 13th place performance at Kansas Speedway on April 25th, Stacy Compton crept into the top-10 in the 2009 Championship Point Standings. Compton currently sits in 10th place, just seven points away from Terry Cook, who occupies the 9th position. Only 61 points separate Compton from the top-five.
THE CREW CHIEF'S CHOICE FOR LOWE'S MOTOR SPEEDWAY:
Marcus Richmond, Crew Chief of the No. 60 SafeAuto Insurance Company / Wyler.com Toyota Tundra, has selected chassis number 120 for the North Carolina Education Lottery 200. This chassis was last raced at Atlanta Motor Speedway in March it produced a 19th place finish. The team was not happy with its performance on that 1.54-mile oval, and has taken this truck to the wind tunnel and seven post shaker rig where it has underwent several changes to make it the best piece possible for the 134-lap race tonight.
COMPTON'S HISTORY AT LOWE'S MOTOR SPEEDWAY:
Stacy Compton is a veteran in all three of NASCAR's top-three divisions, but he could be considered a rookie heading into tonight's North Carolina Education Lottery 200. Even though Compton has a total of 16 starts under his belt at the 1.5-mile quad oval, he has only raced there once in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS). Compton qualified 17th and finished 28th in his first NCWTS appearance last year and is looking to top that finish in the No. 60 SafeAuto Insurance Company Toyota Tundra tonight. Compton's best career finish at Lowe's Motor Speedway came in his last NASCAR Nationwide Series outing there in 2006, where he qualified 30th and rallied to third.
