After a month away from the track, the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series
returns to competition at the Kansas Speedway on Saturday, April 25th. For
the SS Green Light Racing team, the return to the track re-unites Chad
McCumbee with TheGPSstore.com and Garmin for the second time this season.
The last time the companies partnered with the #07, McCumbee finished third
at the two-mile California Speedway in February, the best finish ever for
Green Light Racing.
The SS Green Light team has worked hard during the break in the schedule to
be prepared for the upcoming summer schedule. The team had to do so without
co-owner and crew chief Bobby Dotter who spent a portion of the break in the
hospital suffering from gallstones. Dotter returned to the SS Green Light
shop at the end of last week and is ready to get back to racing. "I had a
little trouble last week, I'm glad to have that behind me. The SS Green
Light guys did a good job while I was away. I'm ready to get back to the
track, this should be a good race for us," Dotter added. "We appreciate the
support from TheGPSstore.com and Garmin. Chad is really good at this track
and the entire SS Green Light team will be putting our best foot forward in
Garmin's hometown."
During the break from the track, McCumbee spent some time working with his
late model team preparing for the season at Myrtle Beach Speedway. Terry
Evans will pilot McCumbee's car at the famed short-track this summer. After
several weeks away from the big tracks, McCumbee is happy to get back behind
the wheel especially at a track where he has been successful in the past.
"I'm real excited to get back to racing. A month away is great for the guys
who are working to get the trucks ready, but it's tough for me to be away
from the track for that long," said McCumbee. "I enjoy helping out with my
late model team, but I'm ready to get behind the wheel of the #07 again."
McCumbee is also looking forward to having TheGPSstore.com and Garmin
onboard for this weekends race. "The GPSstore.com and Garmin have been
behind me for several years and this week should be a great opportunity to
reward them with another strong run. We proved that this team is capable of
running in the top five back in California and again at Atlanta."
. This will be the Chad's 76th NCWTS start and 84th career NASCAR start.
. Chad has competed at Kansas Speedway in the NCWTS on three previous
occasions.
. Chad started second and finished seventh in last years O'Reilly Auto Parts
250.
. Chad's career best finish in the NCWTS was second in the North Carolina
Education Lottery 200 at Lowes
Motor Speedway on May 16, 2008.
. After four events, Chad and the SS Green Light #07 team is currently
eighth in NCWTS point standings.
Chad's thoughts on the Kansas Speedway and the O'Reilly Auto Parts 250:
"I've had some pretty good success at Kansas. It's a great facility, the
track is smooth and each year the racing gets better every year as the
surface wears. I had a great run there last year; we almost won the pole and
lead a bunch off laps. We're going to bring the same truck we ran at
California and Atlanta. I'm sure we'll be very strong and I'm looking
forward to another top finish for TheGPSstore.com and Garmin just as we did
in California."
The O'Reilly Auto Parts 250 will be shown live on SPEED TV at 6:00 eastern
on April 25th. It will also be broadcast live via radio worldwide on the
Motor Racing Network (MRN) and on SIRIUS Satellite Radio NASCAR channel 128.
