Stacy Compton on Racing at Atlanta Motor Speedway (AMS):
"We've ran good at Atlanta in the past, from Cup cars, to Nationwide cars, to Trucks. It's a fun race track. It's worn out and you can move around a lot. You run wide-open there a lot of the time. We're just ready to go racing. We're ready to get into a routine of racing every week. Obviously we've got Atlanta, then another couple of weeks off, then Martinsville, and another couple weeks off. I'll be glad when we get into a rhythm of running every single weekend. It's fun; and we need it as a team to continue to build and grow and get used to each other. I'm looking forward to Atlanta, but I'm looking forward long-term to the rest of the year."
Stacy Compton Says Thanks to Virginia Cub Scout:
Earlier this week, Stacy Compton was able to show his gratitude to a Cub Scout from Altavista, Virginia, who helped extinguish flames from a brush fire on Compton's property in February. Eleven year-old Forrest Taylor was returning home from shopping when he saw one of a number of brush fires that started that day. He told his brother to stop the car and dialed 9-1-1, and Forrest, his brother, and father got out and battled the flames with T-shirts. Compton, the land's owner, thanked the young boy and his family for their quick action, citing it as a key factor in preventing the fire from causing even further damage. The mayor of Altavista, Virginia and a local Boy Scouts leader also came to show their admiration for the boy. Compton called the boy's actions a good example for both adults and children.
Stacy Compton on the Challenges at AMS:
"Atlanta is one of the fastest tracks that we race on and is a track where handling is very important. Your truck really needs to handle well to be able to race for the win, but even if your truck isn't perfect, you can usually find a groove to race in and still be competitive. The track has multiple grooves so that can help you if your truck isn't handling perfectly. You can move around a lot and find a groove that will work for you."
Gary Cogswell's Tundra of Choice for AMS:
Stacy Compton's Crew Chief, Gary Cogswell, has selected chassis number 120 for the 130-lap American Commercial Lines 200. This is one of the newest trucks in the Wyler fleet and was last raced at Homestead-Miami Speedway where Jack Sprague qualified 14th and finished 20th in the 2008 Ford 200.
Stacy Compton's History at Atlanta Motor Speedway: Stacy Compton will make his 12th career start at Atlanta Motor Speedway when he takes the green flag for the American Commercial Lines 200 on Saturday. Compton has two previous starts in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series (NCWTS) at Atlanta Motor Speedway, where he completed all but one lap in those two events. In addition to his NCWTS starts at AMS, Compton has four starts there in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series (NSCS) and five starts in the NASCAR Nationwide Series (NNS). Compton's best finish at AMS came in the NNS when he finished 11th in the 2002 Aaron's 312.
