SIEG: Returning Home to Georgia
03-04-2009 6:42 pm

Shane Sieg will take to the track in the No. 15 Billy Ballew Motorsports Toyota Tundra for the running of the American Commercial Lines 200 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race Saturday, March 7th at Atlanta Motor Speedway.

Both Sieg and team owner Billy Ballew are from Georgia and consider Atlanta Motor Speedway as their home track. Sieg has three previous NASCAR Truck Series starts at the 1.54-mile race track in Hampton, GA with a best finish of 13th-place in 2004. Billy Ballew Motorsports has 12 starts with three wins posted by Kyle Busch. The team has posted four top-5 and six top-10 finishes.

"I like racing in Atlanta, it's a fast, exciting race for the driver and the fans that come out to watch the trucks race," Sieg said. "I have a lot of family and friends coming from all over Georgia so I want to make sure I'm up on the wheel and give them and these guys at Billy Ballew Motorsports a solid top-10 finish Saturday. Richie (Wauters) and the team put together excellent Tundra's for me to drive and I'm looking forward to going out there and having some fun."

"I'm always excited about going back to Atlanta," team owner Billy Ballew said. "We've had some great finishes in both the No. 15 and No. 51 trucks. It's always nice to race at the hometown race track but I think it adds some pressure as well, wanting to succeed. Thankfully I have two talented drivers behind the wheel of the trucks with a team of excellent mechanics supporting them. I can't go without saying thank you James Finch, Miccosukee Resort and to all the loyal Georgia sponsors that have stood behind this team for all these years. We've been doing this since 1996, in the trucks and we've had a lot of help from this community over the years."

Sieg has posted a 15th-place finish at the 2009 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season opener and a 16th-place finish at Auto Club Speedway two weeks ago. The team heads to Atlanta looking to improve to a solid top-10 finish.

"I had a difficult time getting around California," Sieg said. "I'd heard that it isn't always the kindest tracks to a first time driver there but we gained a lot of information to help us when we go to Michigan this summer. The tracks are said to be "sister" tracks so hopefully we learned and will have a better run there."

World Toyota Scion Collision Center and Bo Phillips Company both of Atlanta will serve as associate sponsors on the No. 15 Toyota Tundra.

The NASCAR Camping World Truck Series American Commercial Lines 200 (130 LAPS, 200.2 MILES) race is slated to begin at 2:00pm ET and will be broadcast live on SPEED beginning at 1:30pm ET.
