TruckSeries.com has learned that NASCAR informed teams this morning at Homestead-Miami Speedway that all testing at sanctioned racetracks in 2009, including the annual preseason test sessions at Daytona International Speedway, have been banned.
NASCAR Sprint Cup, Nationwide, Camping World Truck and Camping World Touring series will not be permitted to test at racetracks in which the sanction competes.
The decision to restrict team testing is seen as a significant cost-saving measure for teams and sponsors in all four series.
Michael Waltrip suggested on This Week In NASCAR on SPEED that his NASCAR Sprint Cup Series team alone, Michael Waltrip Racing, would save nearly 1.2 million dollars per year by eliminating the bulk of what he termed an "aggressive" test schedule planned for next season.
