Germain Racing has earned fifteen wins and six poles since joining the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series mid-way through the 2004 season. Of those success stories, three poles and eight wins have been on 1.5-mile intermediate race tracks. Texas has been host to the majority of Germain Racing's success in the intermediate track category.
"Texas has been a great track for our race team. It suits Todd Bodine's driving style, and at intermediate tracks, Germain Racing puts out a product that is always in position to win," said Mike Hillman Jr., crew chief for Bodine and the Lumber Liquidators Tundra. "At Texas, we've just been fortunate enough to make the most of being in that position. There's no secret to our success at Texas, no more than there's a secret to why we haven't found success at another mile and a half, Kentucky. We love Texas Motor Speedway. We love seeing the Lumber Liquidators Tundra in victory lane there. But there's no science, just a lot of hard work by everyone at Germain Racing."
Bodine has captured four victories at Texas and one pole award. Over the years, his teammates have added a pole and a win to the impressive Germain Racing statistics at TMS. Bodine says the success raises the team's performance standards.
"Texas always has a big crowd that really gets into the Truck Series races and it's an exciting track for Germain Racing because we have a history of success there," said Bodine. "It doesn't raise our expectation that we will win, but it raises our standards and we know we have to work extra hard to keep improving the Lumber Liquidators Tundra so that when we get to Texas, it's always better than it was in our last trip there."
Bodine says the success has a lot to do with the team, as a whole.
"Germain Racing has a really good intermediate track program. Texas falls right into that. As a team, we've had wins and pole awards with our Lumber Liquidators Tundra and with our #9 Tundra program at Texas. It's an intermediate track where we just seem to have good success," said Bodine.
Bodine is third in the Truck Series driver points; owner Steve Germain ranks fourth.
Germain Racing has won two or more races each year for a total of 15 wins. Along with the victories, the team has earned 6 pole awards, 66 top-five and 96 top-ten finishes and led 1507 laps in 198 Truck Series races.
