HT Motorsports is pleased to announce that Joey Logano will drive the No. 59 Team ASE/Raybestos/HT Motorsports Toyota Tundra this Saturday afternoon, October 4th, in the Mountain Dew 250 fueled by Winn-Dixie at Talladega Superspeedway. While the 18-year-old has raced numerous races so far this season in the NASCAR Nationwide and Sprint Cup Series, this race will mark the first career start for Logano in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.
"I'm very excited to get the opportunity to run a race in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, especially at a track like Talladega," said Logano. "The Truck Series always has exciting racing and a lot of veteran drivers. Hopefully that will help me learn the ropes about superspeedway racing. Talladega is such a track of unknowns, just like Daytona, so any seat time I can get before next year's Sprint Cup Series season is a plus. There are also some similarities between the trucks and the Sprint Cup cars so this should give me a good feel for what Daytona will be like in February."
In the 2008 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season, HT Motorsports has recorded six top-ten finishes, with a highest of sixth coming at Auto Club Speedway in Southern California. HT Motorsports is pleased to have a talented young driver in their Toyota and hopes that both Logano and the team will have a great deal of success together.
"We are very excited to have Joey in the truck this weekend at Talladega," said Donnie Vaden, Team Manager. "We can't thank Joe Gibbs Racing, J.D. Gibbs and Steve deSouza enough for helping us put this all together in such a short period of time. Toyota was a lot of help too. Joey was up at the shop yesterday getting his seat installed and he brought up one of the JGR engineers with him. They looked the truck over and said they were impressed with what they saw. They know our equipment is as good as anything else out on the track. This is a people business and it's all about chemistry. Joey spent a lot of time talking to the guys yesterday and I think they're all going to get along and have a lot of fun this weekend. It's a great partnership because he needs some experience at Talladega going into Daytona next year, and we need someone to help us start getting some momentum for the rest of the year."
In addition to making his first career Truck Series start, Logano will also have another first this weekend - his first race at Talladega Superspeedway. On Friday, the Middletown, Conn., native will make his debut at the 2.66-mile tri-oval as he races in the ARCA RE/MAX Series, which is a series that he is already a proven winner in. In May, Logano won the Carolina 500 at Rockingham Speedway in dominating fashion, as he started from the pole and led 257 of 312 laps.
"HT Motorsports has had some strong runs this season and I hope that I can deliver another one this weekend," Logano said. "My goal is to run two clean races at Talladega and gain as much experience as possible, while being competitive. I want to win and be successful in everything I drive and this situation is no different. I can't wait to get there and start racing."
