HORNADAY: Hopes Third Time the Charm at Talladega

Hornaday Hopes Third Time is the Charm at Talladega: Ron Hornaday will be making his third NASCAR Truck Series start at Talladega (Ala.) Superspeedway this weekend in the Mountain Dew 250 Fueled by Winn Dixie. In two previous starts at the 2.66-mile superspeedway, Hornaday has recorded two top-10 finishes. He finished 10th in the inaugural running of the Mountain Dew 250 in 2006 and posted a seventh-place finish in last year's race. He has an average starting position of 15.5 and an average finish of 8.5.

One and All: If Ron Hornaday leads at least one lap in Saturday's race, he will have led at every track on the NASCAR Truck Series schedule.

From The Driver's Seat - Quotes From Ron Hornaday:

On racing at Talladega: "Racing at Talladega is a lot like racing at Daytona. Daytona is more of a handling track so the driver has to drive the truck a little more there than at Talladega. Talladega is really smooth now with the new asphalt surface they put down a few years ago.

"I am looking forward to Talladega. We've run good there the past two races and finished in the top 10 both times. We have a new truck that Rick Ren and the guys have built and I have had really good runs this year in new trucks, so maybe that will hold true this week."

Atop The Pit Box - Quotes From Rick Ren:

On racing at Talladega: "Talladega is a big, smooth race track. The drivers can run three-wide there and it makes for exciting racing. To have success at Talladega, you've got to have a really strong motor because you run wide open the whole race. You also need some drafting help. Last year at Talladega, we had Cale Gale as a teammate and he gave us some help. This year, we have Jack Sprague and he and Ron work well together on the track. We have a brand-new truck for this race and I feel confident that we can put together another solid run and get a great finish."

Chassis No. 026 Will Make Debut at Talladega: Chassis No. 026 will make its maiden voyage this weekend in the Mountain Dew 250 Fueled by Winn Dixie. Prior to being raced this weekend, the truck has been to the wind tunnel twice.

KHI to Enter Carmichael in ARCA Race at Talladega: KHI will field an ARCA entry for Camping World East Series stand out Ricky Carmichael.  Making his ARCA debut in the ARCA Remax 250 at Talladega Superspeedway, Carmichael is best known as the most successful motocross racer in American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) history. He has five Supercross championships, 10 national outdoor championships and a total of 150 professional race victories, including multiple titles in the worldwide Motocross-of-Nations event. Carmichael also recently won X Games gold medals in Moto X racing and step-up competition. As he attempts to make his mark on the world of Stock Car Racing, he currently sits seventh in the Camping World East Series points standings and has recorded one pole, three top-five and seven top-10 finishes driving for Ken Schrader Racing.

Previous Race Recap: Ron Hornaday and the Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI) No. 33 Camping World Chevrolet Silverado team scored their 11th top-five finish of the season with a fifth-place finish in the Qwik Liner Las Vegas 350 on Saturday, September 20, 2008, at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Hornaday started the race from the pole position, his third of 2008, and led one lap. He is currently second in the NASCAR Truck Series point standings and trails Johnny Benson by only one point.
