Justin Marks has raced Las Vegas Motor Speedway once, in 2000, on the road course. He's tested there with Germain Racing in a Camry during the Nationwide Series test. Saturday, Justin Marks, of Rocklin, CA, will make his first start at Las Vegas on the 1.5-mile oval when the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series takes to the track for the Qwik Liner Las Vegas 350. Marks will drive the no. 9 Construct Corps Tundra in his final Truck Series race of the season before moving over to Nationwide Series competition.
"I've raced at Las Vegas once, on the road course, and I took some laps there in the winter in the Nationwide Series test in a Germain Racing Camry. I think Las Vegas Motor Speedway is a very nicely laid-out race track. It's pretty bumpy getting into turn one, but other than that the track has a nice, smooth surface. The No. 9 Construct Corps Tundra team has a good setup for that type of race track and I'm looking forward to having a good finish with this team to close out my program with the No. 9 Tundra," said Marks.
Marks has earned a Keystone Light Pole Award in his rookie year in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and has learned a lot working with the Construct Corps Tundra crew. He's looking forward to a great run at Vegas.
"I'm looking forward to getting on track at Vegas. It's the type of track that we have been strong on all year. I think that we have a good program at the intermediates so I think it's a good opportunity for us to get a strong finish. I'm excited about that," said Marks.
Growing up not far away from Vegas, Marks and his college friends from California State University, Chico, made an annual pilgrimage to Las Vegas.
"We had a good time there every year. We went a little crazy - like college kids sometimes do. I'm excited that they will all be at the racetrack this weekend," said Marks.
After Las Vegas concludes Marks season in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series, he will set his sights on racing a Toyota Camry.
"We've been in discussions about which races to put on the schedule. I'm pretty confident my first Nationwide Series race will be at Lowe's Motor Speedway, and that I'll be racing in the ARCA RE/MAX Series at Talladega. There are about three more Nationwide races we're working out and we'll make an announcement when we get everything finalized," said Marks.
