SPEED: Las Vegas Starts Return to Series
09-16-2008 6:34 pm

This week's race truck for Las Vegas Motor Speedway is Chassis No. 22-102.  Chassis No. 22-102 was last raced at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway, where Scott Speed brought it home in the third position.

Welcome Back…  Speed will rejoin the No.22 Bill Davis Racing Toyota Tundra team this week at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.  The former Formula-1 standout will pilot the No. 22 Toyota Tundra for the remaining seven NASCAR Camping World Truck Series events this season.

Need a Red Bull?  Red Bull, the leader in energy drinks, will serve as the primary sponsor of the No. 22 Bill Davis Racing entry Saturday night under the lights at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Staying Busy…  Speed has two jobs.  Not only does he pilot the No. 22 Toyota Tundra in the Craftsman Truck Series, but he also has a full time ride in the ARCA RE/MAX Series.  Speed drives the No. 2 Red Bull Toyota Camry, and has been on quite a tear this season.  Speed has won four ARCA races and is leading that series' championship standings.

First Timer…  This will be Speed's first visit to the1.5-mile Nevada track.

Media Appearances…  Speed will appear at the ESPN Zone in New York Thursday, Sept. 18 at 11:30 a.m. for a pre-event press conference with Las Vegas Motor Speedway officials.

Listen and Watch … The Qwik Liner Las Vegas 350 is scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m. PST, Saturday, Sept. 20.  It will broadcast on SPEED (TV), MRN (radio) and Sirius Satellite Radio (Ch. 128).

Scott Speed on racing at Las Vegas Motor Speedway:

"I can't wait to get back in the truck.  I love racing with the drivers in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.  They are a lot of fun, and I have a great time with them all.  Bill Davis Racing and [crew chief] Doug Wolcott have provided me with amazing trucks at each race this year, so it makes it very exciting every time I sit behind the wheel of one.  I'm sure this Saturday will be no different.

"I am from the West Coast, so I have a ton of family and friends that will be out here this week.  They have never seen me race in a stock car, so this series should be a nice treat for them.  I hope to put on a great show for them, as well as all the fans at Las Vegas on Saturday."
