A nasty pit-road scuffle broke out at New Hampshire Motor Speedway following the conclusion of Saturday's Camping World RV Rental 200 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race.

The confrontation was between Red Horse Racing driver David Starr and the Germain Racing crew. Three times during the race, Starr was in the bottom lane in Turn 1 when he made contact with trucks outside of him, each time sending them into the wall, while he continued on without incident.

First he did it to Donny Lia in the Randy Moss Motorsports Chevrolet, then he took out both Germain Racing Trucks, the No. 9 Construct Corps Toyota of David Reutimann on Lap 180 and the Lumber Liquidators Toyota of Todd Bodine on Lap 191. Starr finished seventh, Reutimann 13th, Bodine 19th and Lia 29th.

After the race, Bodine rammed the back of Starr's truck on the cool-down lap, but it was on pit road where all hell broke loose, as an angry mob of Germain crewman confronted Starr, included one who stuck his finger in Starr's face. Punches soon began to fly. NASCAR officials jumped in and briefly calmed the fury, which soon exploded again in hail of hard punches and obscenities.

All parties were called to the NASCAR hauler and it's reasonable to expect that there will be some harsh penalties handed out on Tuesday, the day of the week when NASCAR usually dispenses justice for offenses committed on race weekends.

For his part, Bodine said he genuinely liked Starr and was sure Starr didn't cause the accident intentionally, but Bodine understandably was frustrated. "David, when he has a good truck, has a tendency to drive just a little bit beyond the means of the truck," said Bodine. "My crew was pretty upset, obviously. He didn't take one of their trucks out, he took 'em both out. He took my teammate (Reutimann) exactly the same way. … He drove into both of us. Drove into the left-rear quarter panel and took us both out."

Starr was angry afterwards, too. "I don't have a problem with a driver coming over and wanting to come over and talk to me, but a crew member coming over and putting a finger in my face? That's a totally different deal," said Starr. "I don't play that way. We race hard on the race track. This is the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series. You see this week-in and week-out. But to have a crew member come and put my window net down and put a finger in my face? I don't play that game."

And Starr blamed Bodine for the contact between the two. "I can guarantee you that Todd cut down on me if you watch the in-car camera or watch the playback of it. We were racing hard, the outside was the momentum, but he did cut down on me."

Expect more on this story in the coming weeks, as NASCAR decides what, if any, action needs to be taken.
