HORNADAY: Returns to New Hampshire as Only Repeat Winner
TruckSeries.com Report Printer Version

  Discuss

Ron Hornaday returns to New Hampshire Motor Speedway (NHMS) this weekend as the only repeat winner of the NASCAR Truck Series' race at the one-mile oval. Hornaday's first win at NHMS came in 1996, during his first Truck Series championship season. He started from the eighth position and took the lead on the final lap to take the checkered flag. His second trip to victory lane at NHMS came last year, his most recent championship season, when he started from the pole position and led 174 of 200 laps as he cruised to his 33rd career win. In his seven career Truck Series starts, Hornaday has recorded two wins, three top-five and five top-10 finishes.

Statistics Show… Over the past three years, statistics show that Ron Hornaday has been the driver to beat at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. In the past three Truck Series races at NHMS, Hornaday has an average finish of 4.0 and has led more laps than any other driver with 230 (38.3 percent). He has also been passed the fewest number of times over the past three races (41). If these statistics ring true, it could be another great race for Hornaday at New Hampshire.

Crew Chief Ren Also A NHMS Repeat Winner: Not only is Ron Hornaday a repeat winner at New Hampshire Motor Speedway, but his crew chief, Rick Ren, has a pair of wins at NHMS as well. Ren went to victory lane in 2006 with Johnny Benson and again last year with Hornaday.

From The Driver's Seat - Quotes From Ron Hornaday: On racing at New Hampshire: "New Hampshire is a track that fits my driving style. It's flat for the most part and has a little bit of banking in the turns. I have had some really good runs at New Hampshire in the past. We had a good race there last year and led the most laps and won. I'm the only repeat winner at that track, so hopefully we can put together another solid run and put the No. 33 Camping World Silverado back in victory lane this year."

Atop The Pit Box - Quotes From Rick Ren: On racing at New Hampshire: "Loudon is very similar to Milwaukee. There is a fine line at what makes the truck good off of turn four though. Even the slightest adjustments to the shocks make a big difference. Last year, we had a really good truck. We were fast in practice and started on the pole for the race. New Hampshire is a track where it is easier to race up front as long as you can start up front. That's where we were all day and it paid off, and that's what we are going to be looking to do again this time."

Camping World to Sponsor NHMS NASCAR Truck Series Race: Camping World, primary sponsor on the Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI) No. 33 Chevrolet Silverado and part-time sponsor on the No. 2 Chevrolet Silverado NASCAR Truck Series entries as well as the KHI No. 33 NASCAR Nationwide Series entry, has been named the title sponsor for this Saturday's Truck Series race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. The Camping World RV Rental 200 Driven by Winnebago Industries will be broadcast live on SPEED beginning at 2:30 p.m., ET, and on the Motor Racing Network (MRN) beginning at 3:00 p.m., ET.

Chassis No. 027 Returns to the Track in New Hampshire: Chassis No. 027 will make it's second consecutive start this week at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. Hornaday drove this truck to victory lane last week in it's debut at Gateway (Ill.) International Raceway.

Previous race recap: Ron Hornaday led 113 of 160 laps en route to his 37th career NASCAR Truck Series victory and the fourth of the season for the No. 33 Camping World Chevrolet Silverado team by winning the Camping World 200 presented by Honda Power Equipment at Gateway (Ill.) International Raceway. With the win, Hornaday cut into Johnny Benson's point standings lead and now only trails by 94 points with eight races remaining in the season.
