Ted Musgrave rallied from the 28th starting position to finish tenth in the No. 59 Team ASE/Harris Trucking Toyota in Wednesday's O'Reilly 200 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Bristol Motor Speedway. Combined with his eighth-place run last time out at Nashville, it marks the first time since California and Atlanta in March that Musgrave has scored back-to-back top-ten finishes.
"We've had some good runs this year that didn't really pay off at the end, but tonight maybe helps make up for some of them," Musgrave said. "We weren't all that great but we stayed out of everyone else's trouble and kept the truck fairly clean and came out with a good finish. It's good for the team to get a little momentum. We're starting to get to the stretch run and it would be good for us all to close the season with some good solid runs and some good finishes."
Musgrave had his share of close calls, narrowly missing a couple of the race's incidents.
"I know we had an on-board camera with us this week and I am usually hoping we get some good shots and keep the fans at home entertained but I think we might have given them a little too much excitement this week," Musgrave laughed. "It seemed every time someone wrecked we were right behind it. Jimmie Johnson got loose and we were right there. Then they stacked up in turn two and a bunch of guys got caught up and we missed it by inches. I am sure the camera got a lot of great shots but maybe next time the camera can catch all that action pointed backwards instead of towards the front."
After his fifth top-ten finish of the season, Musgrave moves up one position in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series championship standings to the 14th position. He is just three points behind Brendan Gaughan for 13th and 163 points behind Dennis Setzer for tenth.
