SCOTT: Ready For Music City Double-Header
Nashville ARCA, NCTS Dual Duels On Tap For Idaho Native Double your pleasure, double your fun. That is not just an old ad for Wrigley's chewing gum - it's the attitude driver Brian Scott takes as he approaches both the Automobile Racing Club of America and the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series events this weekend at Nashville Superspeedway. Scott will compete in two races in one day: the Toyota 150 ARCA RE/MAX contest and the Toyota Tundra 200 NCTS clash. "I love to race so having two races in one day is perfect for me," Scott says. "I actually prefer to have both the ARCA race and the NASCAR Craftsman Truck series race on the same day. It's a unique situation and I am really excited about both races. We went to test at Chicago last week with our No. 16 Albertsons Chevrolet Silverado and we found some things that should help us in the truck race at Nashville. We made some gains with our speed going over the bumps and with a feel that I've been looking for so I feel like we got a leg up on things. Our Xpress Motorsports team worked some things out that had been causing problems for us so now I am looking forward to getting to Nashville and putting what we learned at the Chicago test into place in race conditions." Scott has been a busy driver over the past few weeks. After running both the ARCA and NCTS races at Kentucky he participated in an ARCA test at Nashville, where he had the fastest car. From there it was the NCT S race at ORP, followed by the Chicago NCTS test and then straight to Pocono for the ARCA event where he ran up front for most of the day before blowing a tire late in the event and finishing 20th. Despite not sleeping in his own bed lately, Scott says all the seat time is just what the doctor ordered. "It's been a hectic pace but it has been very beneficial," Scott claimed. "We learned a lot at the ARCA test in Nashville and certain ly anytime you are the fastest it's a confidence builder for the team and the driver. You always want to be the fastest whether it's in testing, practice or qualifying. You know that it doesn't necessarily mean anything, the race is what matters, but you still want to be on top of the board. Working with Venturini Motorsports on the ARCA side has been great. They work really hard on giving me the best equipment possible and our cars have been really fast every time out. Getting a chance to test at Nashville will be helpful in both the ARCA race and the truck race. It just gave me a better feel for the characteristics of the racetrack, what the line is like and how far you can drive it in. The more seat time you can get at any track is always going to help you down the road." Saturday's races at Nashville Superspeedway will mark the first time Scott has participated in actual competition at the 1.33 mile facility. His recent test at the Middle Tennessee venue has given him a good feel for what to expect. "I like the racetrack a lot," Scott said. "It has a lot of speed in it, you can really get in the gas early and carry a lot of speed down the straightaways. It's like a big Bristol or a bigger version of Dover. It pays to be ballsy there - some tracks it doesn't pay to be aggressive but it does at Nashville. It has its own personality with the concrete surface and some well placed bumps. It has character. I like tracks that are not cookie cutter tracks, that have unique qualities to them, and Nashville is certainly that type of track." The Toyota 150 ARCA RE/MAX race at Nashville Superspeedway on Saturday August 9th is scheduled for 4:30pm ET, and the Toyota Tundra 200 NCTS is slated to start a scant three hours later at 7:30pm ET. Both events will be broadcast live nationally on SPEED. The NCTS event will be broadcast via radio worldwide on Motor Racing Network (MRN) and SIRIUS Satellite Radio NASCAR Channel 128. Scott will drive the No. 25 Albertsons Chevrolet Monte Carlo in the ARCA event and the No.16 Albertsons Chevrolet Silverado in the NCTS contest.
