Timothy Peters, driver of the #17 Premier Racing Dodge Ram truck, will enter the Craftsman Truck Series race on August 9th with high hopes for breakout race. Peters has excelled in qualifying at the track, placing his Nationwide car (June 9, '07) and Craftsman truck (August 12, '06) series entries in the top-5 on his last starts in each respective series.
"Earlier in my career, I lived in Nashville for two years and like the city; this track is a great place to showcase our new race team," commented Peters. He added," I know how hard the team has worked in the shop over the past several months, and it's going to be a really exciting race for our team, fans and sponsors. We are very confident in the truck we have prepared for the race and expect to be competitive right off the bat this weekend."
Premier Racing, located in Danville, VA, is in the early stages of laying the foundation for a high caliber race team, and is competing in only its 3rd race of the season.
"We are real pleased with the evolution of our race team and know that we will continue to see progress in Nashville," added team owner Philip Hudgins.
The Premier Racing team will compete in a limited schedule consisting of 8-10 races and will enter the series on a full time basis in 2009. Hudgins added, "We fully intend to enter as many races as we can in 2008, but we want to assure everyone that we have all the pieces of the puzzle put together for a full time campaign in 2009."
The team will announce its extended 2008 schedule in the coming weeks and looks forward to being a mainstay in the Craftsman Truck Series for years to come.
The Toyota Tundra 200 truck series race from Nashville will air on The Speed Channel on August 9th at 7:00 E.S.T.
