WHITE: Top-Ten In Reach at Nashville
TruckSeries.com Report Printer Version

  Discuss

For the last few NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series events Jason White has been building momentum piloting the #08 GunBroker.com Dodge. White finished 17th at the Milwaukee Mile in June then posted two 18th place finishes at both Kentucky (KY) Speedway and O'Reilly (IN) Raceway Park. White and the SS-Green Light Racing team will look to continue their climb forward in round-15 of the series at Nashville Superspeedway in Nashville, Tenn. The Toyota Tundra 200 scheduled for Saturday night.

"I feel good about how we've started the second half the season and I'm looking forward to racing this weekend," said White. "It's a track that I really like and I think we can do well there. We're taking the same truck we ran at Kentucky and we ran strong with that truck, so we should have a good package to be competitive at Nashville."

The SS Green Light Racing Team operates as an independent against some of the tough competition in the series backed by factory support and depths of engineering. But despite the tough environment the team and its driver feel they can and should be inside the top-twenty each week.

"It starts with consistency and that's what we're after right now," said White. "We've been consistently finishing in the top-twenty lately. Now we work towards the top-fifteen and eventually we start finding those top-ten's. It's important to be there at the end of the race and on the lead lap. That's our goal right now. Anything can happen from that point."

White has been close to the top-ten on several occasions this year. But several late race incidents kept the team from the top-ten. At Martinsville earlier this season White was in 11th pushing his way towards 10th with just a few laps remaining. After a caution the truck ran out of fuel sending him to a 27th place finish. At Mansfield Motor Sports Park in May White was up to 13th and gaining. His GunBroker.com truck was literally run over by another race truck crushing the left front wheel and suspension. With heavy damage White dropped to 29th on the final lap. Despite the tough luck White continues to look forward along with the SS-Green Light Racing Team.

"We've been close to top finishes, but something would happen. It's frustrating to say the least. Racing is a tough game. It's also very tough to compete with those big dollar teams out there," added White. "But despite all that we have to keep focused on being the best independent team in the series. I think we can do that and lately we've been showing it."
