STARR: Nashville a Fun, Consistant Track
STARR ON NASHVILLE SUPERSPEEDWAY: "Nashville is always a fun track to
race at. The big thing that is different about Nashville compared to most of the
tracks that we race at is that it is all concrete. Nashville is very consistent
throughout the heat of the day, compared to the asphalt tracks that have more or
less grip depending on the weather conditions. Also, the way that the track is
laid out provides great racing. When I was with Red Horse Racing in 2006, we
were running third with 12 laps to go, when my right front tire blew out. I'm
excited to be going back to Nashville and I believe we will have a great run,
hopefully with a better ending than we had in 2006."
STARR ON HIS 2006 NASHVILLE RACE: "Well, to be going back to Nashville
with Red Horse Racing is a great thing. We had a bunch of success at that track
when we were together in 2006, and I can't be more excited heading into this
weekend. My Red Horse Racing team gave me an awesome truck, but it was just
unfortunate having that right front tire blow. The way the race ended up, with
Todd Bodine and Mike Skinner taking each other out, we would have won the race
if the tire hadn't blown out. The past few weeks, we had a really good test at
Darlington Raceway and a solid top-five run at Kentucky Speedway. My crew chief,
Jamie Jones and the whole team have done a great job of getting our
mile-and-a-half program going in the right direction and I'm very excited about
the race. We definitely have a shot of winning, since I'm going back to
Nashville with the same crew chief and team."
STARR ON HIS MANUFACTURER, TOYOTA SPONSORING THE WEEKEND: "You can ask
me, my owner, Tom DeLoach, or my crew chief, Jamie Jones, and we will all tell
you that every week we head to the racetrack to win, no matter who sponsors the
race. But since our manufacturer, Toyota, is sponsoring the race, we all would
love to run well for them and get them a win. It is such an honor to represent
Toyota every week and we will definitely be looking to get our No. 11 Toyota
Tundra in Victory Lane this weekend at Nashville."
STARR ON THE CUSTOM DESIGNED GIBSON GUITAR TROPHY: "Every trophy is
special, but the custom designed Gibson guitar that Nashville Superspeedway
gives away as their trophy is just awesome. I don't know how to play a guitar
and I don't need to know how to play one. What matters is that it gets put into
my trophy case. It is a very special trophy and I would love to be able to get
my Toyota Tundra into Victory Lane and take that guitar home with me."
STARR ON HIS TOYOTA MEDIA DAY ON THURSDAY: "It is an honor to be asked to
represent Toyota any day, but Thursday allows me to talk to the media about
Toyota and how they support our team through their manufacturer support. In the
past, I have been able to visit a Toyota assembly plant, where they make all the
Toyota Tundras and cars that everybody can drive on the road. It gave me a
different perspective of all of the work that Toyota as a company does and it
was neat being able to say 'Thanks' for all of the hard work that the employees
put in every day. It's a really cool thing that Johnny Benson and I will be able
to represent Toyota to the media and I will get to talk to Johnny a little about
Nashville. If I pick his brain a little, as he is on a roll right now, it will
be a bonus on the day."
NASHVILLE CHASSIS: Crew chief Jamie Jones has chosen chassis, TRD 110 for
Saturday's Toyota Tundra 200. This will be the second time that Starr has raced
this chassis in the 2008 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series season, as he raced it
last month at Kentucky Speedway. TRD 110 was a brand-new chassis in Kentucky and
brought success at the mile-and-a-half track, as Starr wheeled the Tundra to a
fifth-place finish.
STARR AT NASHVILLE: In six previous starts at the 1.33-mile D-shaped
oval, Starr has recorded three top-five finishes - second in 2004 and fourth in
2003 and 2007. In 2006 with Red Horse Racing, Starr was running solidly in the
top-five but in the final stages of the race his right front tire blew,
relegating him to the 20th position. Starr has completed 99.7% of laps competed
(899 of 902) and has led a total of 40 laps. Starr's average starting position
is 12.2 and his average finishing position is 9.7.
HONORARY PIT CREW MEMBER: On Saturday, Red Horse Racing will have an
Honorary Pit Crew Member - one of three top dealership associates who sold the
most Toyota Tundras. The lucky winner will be treated to behind- the-scenes
access with the No. 11 team and get to meet and greet with driver, David Starr.
AUTOGRAPH SESSION: On Saturday, David Starr will greet fans and sign
autographs at the Craftsman Mobile Marketing Display outside Nashville
Superspeedway. Starr will be available beginning at 12 noon local time.
