NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series driver Todd Bodine has wins on two other concrete oval tracks on the NASCAR circuit but no concrete-track wins in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. With two top-five and three top-ten finishes in Truck Series action at Nashville Superspeedway, Bodine and his Lumber Liquidators Tundra crew are anxious to take another shot at claiming the coveted guitar trophy in Saturday's Toyota Tundra 200.
"Anytime Toyota sponsors a race there's added incentive to win," explained Bodine, a Toyota Tundra racer since 2004.
"But at Nashville, you wanna do well for all the Toyota team members and associates that are there. It becomes almost a sense of pride among the Toyota drivers to be the one to win the race. We know we have all those fans there, cheering us on, and it's important for us to win for them. We'd love to take the Lumber Liquidators Tundra to the winner's circle in front of the big Toyota crowd."
Bodine's record at Nashville Superspeedway shows a lot of great results. He has three Truck Series starts and five Nationwide Series starts; he's led laps in both series on the concrete oval and his worst Truck Series finish at Nashville came in 2006 when he finished eighth. Bodine hopes his combined experiences will lead to success this season.
"We've come close at Nashville," said Bodine. "I've always run well there, and I've done well in testing at Nashville and I even ran well there in my one ARCA race at the track. It's just been a good track for me and I hope we can turn that into a win this year."
In addition to enjoying the thrilling action of Nashville's concrete oval, Bodine says the city is a great place, too.
"Everything about the city of Nashville is cool from the clubs downtown, to the people, to the surrounding countryside. Nashville is a big racing town and that trophy is one of those trophies that if you win it, you have to display it. It's a trophy everyone wants to have. I've come close to winning the guitar and we're hoping to put it all together this year," said Bodine.
Germain Racing has won two or more races each year for a total of 14 wins. Along with the victories, the team has earned 5 pole awards, 59 top-five and 88 top-ten finishes and led 1402 laps in 180 Truck Series races.
