Hornaday Hopes to be "Pickin' and Grinnin'" in Music City: Ron Hornaday has quite an extensive collection of unique trophies from his 28-year racing career. One trophy he does not yet have is the coveted Gibson guitar from Nashville (Tenn.) Superspeedway. Hornaday finished second in last year's Toyota Tundra 200 at Nashville behind Travis Kvapil. In three previous starts at the 1.333-mile track, Hornaday has posted one top-five and one top-ten finish. Coming off of his second-place finish two weeks ago at O'Reilly Raceway Park at Indianapolis (ORP), Hornaday hopes the momentum will carry him and the Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI) No. 33 Chevrolet Silverado team under the bright lights of Nashville's victory lane stage, strumming the strings on that Gibson guitar.
Hornaday has a Shot at the "Concrete Sweep" with a Nashville Win: Ron Hornaday has a chance to make NASCAR Truck Series history on Saturday at Nashville Superspeedway. If he wins the race, he would become the first series driver to win on all three of the series' concrete-surfaced tracks. Hornaday has two wins at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway (1998 and 1997) and one at Dover (Del.) International Speedway (2007).
Chassis 022 Will Make Third Start of the 2008 Season: Crew chief Rick Ren and the KHI No. 33 team are going with a concrete-track veteran for this weekend's race at Nashville Superspeedway. Make that a pair of concrete-track veterans; as Ron Hornaday will drive Chassis No. 022 in the Toyota Tundra 200. In its previous two starts in 2008, Hornaday has driven this truck to a third-place finish at Dover International Speedway and a seventh-place finish at The Milwaukee Mile.
VFW on the No. 33 for the Second Straight Race: The Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States (VFW) returns to KHI's No. 33 Chevrolet Silverado as the primary sponsor for the second race in a row. The red, white and blue No. 33 VFW Chevrolet Silverado debuted on March 29 at Martinsville (Va.) Speedway and adorned the No. 33 at ORP. The VFW-themed is scheduled to run in three more races in the 2008 season, including the Veterans Day weekend event at Phoenix International Raceway.
From The Driver's Seat - Quotes From Ron Hornaday:
On racing at Nashville Superspeedway: "Nashville is a place where I really want to win and get one of those cool guitars trophies. It's right up there with that Elvis trophy from Memphis. We had a good run at Nashville last year and finished second. The truck was good and Rick Ren (crew chief) made an air pressure adjustment to the right-side tires on the last stop and really made the truck come alive. We were able to get up there and run with the leaders. We need to follow that up with another strong run this year and keep ourselves in contention for the points lead."
