HOWARD: Best Finish Posted at ORP Indy

Shelby Howard roared to his first top-5 finish of the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series season in front of hometown supporters in the Power Stroke Diesel 200 at ORP on Friday.

Howard, who grew up in nearby Greenwood, Indiana, gave his fans a thrill and his No. 13 FarmPaint.com Chevy teammates a much-needed shot in the proverbial arm with his 5th place effort.

"I had a bunch of friends and family out there rooting for me, and it was a perfect time for a top-5 finish for us," he said.  "It's been a long time coming, and there's no better place than ORP to do it.  It was pretty cool as we made our way back up thru the field those last 30 laps or so.  I'm excited for all of the guys on this FarmPaint.com team.  We have a young team, and we took our lumps early, but we're learning a whole lot and we've come a long way so far this season.  The guys are working really well together, and we're excited about what lies ahead for us.  We just have to keep working, keep looking for ways to get better."

Howard's only other finish inside the top-10 this season was at Mansfield in May.

On Saturday, Howard capped a special weekend by driving the No. 13 Bobcat/FarmPaint.com Chevrolet to a 20th place finish in the NASCAR Nationwide Series Kroger 200 at ORP.

"I was a little bit disappointed with our finish, but we were able to bring the car home in one piece," Howard said.  "We learned a lot, and I really enjoyed it.  All in all, it was a special weekend for me back at ORP.  Hopefully, we can take the top-5 NCTS finish and build on it."
