FORD RACING: Braun Quickest in 'Happy Hour' at ORP
TruckSeries.com Report Printer Version

  Discuss

Colin Braun, driver of the No. 6 Con-way Freight Ford F-150, clocked the fastest time in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Happy Hour at O'Reilly Raceway Park.  The Raybestos Rookie of the Year contender posted a time of 23.037 seconds (107.201 mph) around the .686-mile track.

"I think we have a really good truck for tonight.  The crew worked really hard in practice.  We made a ton of changes.  That's one of the greatest things about working for this team and working with my crew chief Mike Beam.  We get such a good plan here at the start of the day. We worked through so many different changes and made so many runs.  I feel like we really accomplished a lot and got a lot of changes made in our truck. I feel like we'll be in really good shape tonight with this No. 6 Con-way Freight Ford F-150 in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series."

A LOT OF THE DRIVERS SAID THEY WERE TIGHT THROUGHOUT PRACTICE.  WHAT DID YOU EXPERIENCE? "We were tight and loose.  It just feels really slippery over here at this race track.  I know we have a pretty hard tire and it feels like you just slip and slide all over the place.  For me, I'm really enjoying it. It's a lot of fun as a driver to deal with that and drive like that."

THIS IS YOUR FIRST TIME HERE. WHAT DO YOU THINK OF THE TRACK? "It's fun.  It's cool because you have different lines to run, you can run in the middle or the top and still be fast, it seems like.  This is definitely a driver's track. I think it will be really hard to pass during the race.  It's going to be tough, for sure.  I think qualifying is going to be really important."

YOU'RE RUNNING IN BOTH TRUCK AND NATIONWIDE EVENTS HERE THIS WEEKEND. "Yeah, I'm excited about that.  I hope we can transfer things that we learned today into the race tomorrow.  I think my crew chief Eddie Pardue on the 16 CitiFinancial Ford Fusion has a good starting set-up. Greg Biffle always runs really strong in that car here.  He's always fast here, so maybe I'll get a chance to talk to Greg and figure out some secrets."

WHAT WOULD IT MEAN TO YOU TO WIN HERE? "I think it would be great because this is another sponsored Ford race.  In Kentucky, we broke a left front shock, otherwise I thought we would have been real competitive and had a shot at it.  But we broke that left front shock and it kind of ended our night.  We were certainly disappointed we didn't get a chance to get the win there, but this would be a great place to do it."
