BUSCH: Celebrating Anniversary At ORP
TruckSeries.com Report Printer Version

  Discuss

Kyle Busch will take to the track in the No. 51 Miccosukee Resort Toyota Tundra NASCAR Craftsman Truck this week at the O'Reilly Raceway Park celebrating his seventh-year anniversary of his first NASCAR national series race at the Indianapolis track- Aug. 3, 2001 at the tender age of 16.

Despite crashing in qualifying, Busch drove the backup truck from back of field to finish ninth proving that you can pass on the .0686-mile short track. Busch has 12 short track starts in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series with a best finish of fifth at the Bristol Motor Speedway and the Martinsville Speedway both posted in 2005 driving for Billy Ballew Motorsports.

Billy Ballew Motorsports has five starts at the Indianapolis, IN racetrack with a best finish of second in 2004 with Shane Hmiel behind the wheel.

Busch will be also competing at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway for the Brickyard 400 and commuting back and forth to the short track down the road. Shane Sieg will be on standby to practice and qualify the Miccosukee Resort Tundra if weather hampers the schedule.

Sieg has one prior start at ORP and has made four starts for the Billy Ballew Motorsports team in 2008 with a best finish of ninth at the Memphis Motorsports Park.

"It's been great to be able to have the success that we've had this year," said Busch. "In the Truck Series, we ran second at Daytona, we won at California and Atlanta back-to-back, and haven't really had much since. We've had fast trucks just haven't had the opportunities to win races in them. We have to try and get back on task. Try to get back on what we were doing earlier this year and get our trucks back going again. We had a good run in Kentucky but got behind after a pit stop during the green flag. We have a good truck for ORP and hopefully put Billy Ballew back in Victory Lane."

Busch is looking to capture the 2008 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Owners Points Championship for team owner and friend Billy Ballew. Ballew sits fourth in the Owners Points chase just 47 points out of the lead.
