LoneStar, International's all-new big-rig truck, will take the place of MaxxForce Diesel on the hood of the No. 10 Ford F-150 this weekend. As part of the weekend's activities surrounding the race at MMP, International will host a big-rig challenge for the series' hauler drivers on Friday.
The International MaxxForce Diesel team will utilize chassis CB-14 this weekend at Memphis. CB-14 is a new chassis for 2008 developed specifically for Gaughan's use. This is the same truck that Gaughan drove to an 11th-place finish at Martinsville Speedway in March, and most recently raced at Mansfield Motorsport Park.
Gaughan currently occupies the 13th position in the driver point standings, 81 points out of top 10.
Gaughan will accompany fellow series drivers Rick Crawford, Colin Braun, Stacy Compton and Dennis Setzer on a visit to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis on Friday.
Gaughan's Thoughts on MMP: "The track surface at Memphis promotes good side-by-side racing. It's just an old-fashioned Richmond. It's old asphalt; it's got really good corners and it's really racy. It's two-wide racing and it's a fun, little race track that has made for great racing over the years. They've also got a cool trophy with the Elvis that they give out. I think NASCAR did a great thing when they took it to a two-day show a couple of years ago because it's really hot in Memphis this time of year. Spreading out all of the activities over two days really helps the drivers stay fresh for the race."
"For this weekend we've got truck 14, which last ran at Mansfield, but ran second all day at Martinsville in March. We know we have a good piece. We just need to get consistent. If we can get some consistency down, I think the 10 team is going to start winning some races. I think once the MaxxForce team gets consistent, we're going to be really good because we've had flashes of brilliance."
