MITCHELL: Track Position is Key at Milwaukee
TruckSeries.com Report Printer Version

  Discuss

The Camping World RV Sales 200 will be Mitchell's second start on a track one mile or less this season. The last race Mitchell competed on a track one mile or less was at Mansfield Motorsports Park, in which he started 8th and finished 26th.

The #15 Ergon Hyprene Tundra will compete in 21 races in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series in 2008. Mitchell is competing for Rookie of The Year Honors.

Mitchell went skydiving with the U.S. Army Golden Knights parachuting team last Tuesday.

NASCAR Camping World Truck Series Raybestos Rookie Contender Marc Mitchell Comments on Camping World RV Sales 200:

Running up front in Michigan was a big confidence booster for Milwaukee. The main thing was that people knew we were at Michigan, knew we were fast. Now we just need to finish the job.  I made a mistake last weekend. We didn't get the finish we were hoping for, but we're knocking on the door. It won't be long and everything is going to come together.  With Milwaukee, we'll see what we have when get there. If we have a truck to win the race, we will go for it. We are here to win races, not just finish them.

Being my rookie season, there are a lot of tracks that we're going to that I've never raced at. I've spent most practice sessions just getting acquainted with the track.  Milwaukee is one place I've been to already, though.  I don't think that will give us an advantage, but we will be on the same playing field. I've never raced a truck there, but at least at this track I will be a little bit more familiar with it. Hopefully we will be able to get out there and start working on the truck a little earlier than we did at Michigan. It took me a couple laps to get adapted there.

The last race I raced there was the Nationwide race and we ended up finishing 20th. We've got a decent piece this week. I feel like we should have a top-10 truck in qualifying and during the race. The Ergon team is looking forward to going there and having a pretty good run.

Qualifying is going to be real important. Track position is going to be key. It will be a lot like the Mansfield race except on a bigger track. Milwaukee may be a mile, but it drives like a short track. You have to have your truck handling good and keep it on the bottom. Keep your nose clean and be there at the end. We did that at Mansfield. We just had an unfortunate incident where we cut the tire. We really feel like our short track program is where it needs to be. If I qualify in the top-10 and end up there, it will be a good day.
