Kyle Busch will run the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race this weekend at Dover International Speedway, and there might be more talk of how he could win a championship in all three of NASCAR's national series.
But let's hope that talk is over. It's not going to happen.
Busch definitely is a contender, if not the current favorite, to win the Sprint Cup title this year. He leads the Cup standings, and the chances are his team will even get better as it improves on the Toyota engine and continues to develop NASCAR's new generation race car. If he wins the title this year, it most likely will be in Cup.
On the Nationwide side, Busch is second - 67 points out of the top spot. He is a contender to win that title but nowhere near the favorite. Because he is driving for at least three different teams (four if you count the two Joe Gibbs Racing teams he's running with at various times), he likely won't be able to get the consistency needed to win the title.
Sure, he's a threat to win every race he's in, but he certainly won't be points racing in any of them. That will be left to points leader Clint Bowyer as well as Carl Edwards and David Reutimann. Busch isn't going to think about or worry about the points. He's just going to race, and that probably means a race or two where he will push the car beyond its capabilities and end up in the back of the field.
