SEVENTH TIME IS THE CHARM: In six NASCAR Truck Series races at Dover (Del.) International Speedway Sprague has an average finish of 17th. Coming off his third top-10 finish this season last weekend in Mansfield, Sprague is hopeful he can improve that average.
"Every single week this Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI) team rolls off the truck fast," said Sprague. "Unfortunately this season we have been at all the wrong places at all the wrong times. Now were headed to a self-cleaning race track. Maybe this time no one will be in our way."
WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES IN DRIVING ON CONCRETE VERSUS ASPHALT? "The main difference between concrete and asphalt is that concrete is more consistent. Asphalt is more temperature sensitive so it changes more than the concrete tracks do."
AT THIS POINT IN THE SEASON HOW IMPORTANT IS YOUR POSITION IN THE POINT STANDINGS? YOU CURRENTLY SIT 11th, 105 POINTS BACK. "At this point in the season things are so tight. However, I think I'm in good shape and I have a great shot at the championship. It's important every week to keep narrowing the gap to first even if you do not move up any positions. We have been narrowing that gap for the last three weeks and hope to continue that trend."
LAST WEEK AT MANSFIELD WE SAW A FIRST TIME WINNER IN THE TRUCK SERIES WHAT WOULD IT MEAN TO YOU TO BE A FIRST TIME WINNER AT DOVER? "It'd be awesome. I've been really close to winning a few races at Dover. At this point in the season I really believe that sooner or later were going to win a race. Once we win one we are going to win a lot of races. We just need to get some luck and try and stay out of the wrong places at the wrong time."
THE CLOSER: Jack Sprague has a reputation of gaining positions in the closing laps. He ranks fourth among current drivers at Dover International Speedway gaining an average of 1.3 positions in the last 10 percent of the laps.
CHASSIS HISTORY: The KHI No. 2 ACL team will bring chassis No. 014 to Dover International Raceway. Chassis No. 014 took the track earlier this season at Atlanta Motor Speedway where Sprague earned his first top-10 finish of 2008 with a sixth-place.
PREVIOUS RACE RECAP: Sprague recorded his third top-10 finish of 2008 last week at Mansfield (Ohio) Motorsports Park. Sprague started the race from the 10th position, but an incident with a lapped truck on lap 115 resulted in right-front fender damage. Buried deep in the field, Sprague made a late-race charge from 28th position to finish the race seventh.
