Northern Tool + Equipment to Host Go-Kart Challenge
Northern Tool + Equipment, the primary sponsor of the No. 99 Ford F-150
driven by Erik Darnell will host a Race Day Go-Kart Challenge on Saturday, May
17th from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the company's Concord retail location. This will
be the second year in a row Concord has held the event prior to the NASCAR
Sprint All-Star race. Admission is free to the public.
The Race Day Go-Kart Challenge will give participants 18 years and older with a
valid driver's license the opportunity to showcase their go-kart skills for a
chance at a $250.00 shopping spree to Northern Tool
+ Equipment. The name of the game though is who can run the fastest lap
around the track. Each participant will get four laps; one practice and three
timed laps. However, there's a catch to this race. NT+E driver Erik Darnell and
fellow Roush Fenway Racing teammate Greg Biffle will take to the track first
setting lap times for participants to aim for during the two-hour race.
"Northern Tool + Equipment has done a fabulous job putting together these go-karting
events. We had a great turnout last year and I expect it to be even bigger this
year," said Darnell. "It's a great way to meet with fans and also do a little
racing."
The Race Day Go-Kart Challenge was created by NT+E in 2007. Known for its line
of go-karts, NT+E thought it would be a great way to promote its driver who at
the time was beginning his first full season with them. The company held several
of these go-karting events during the
2007 truck season at different retail locations throughout the country.
The Race Day Go-Kart Challenge was considered a hit and was a no brainer when
discussing whether or not to bring it back for 2008.
Along with prizes and trophies going to the first, second and third-place
winners, all participants will receive a NT+E racing hat.
Both Darnell and Biffle will be available during the event to sign autographs
and mingle with fans.
