HORNADAY: Repeat Win Would Be Nice at Lowe's
TruckSeries.com Report Printer Version

  Discuss

Ron Hornaday will be looking to repeat last year's winning performance at Lowe's (N.C.) Motor Speedway in the North Carolina Education Lottery 200. Hornaday led 98 of the 136 laps on the way to picking up his first win of the 2007 season and his first win at Lowe's Motor Speedway. If he gets the win, he will be the second repeat Truck Series winner at Lowe's Motor Speedway.

No. 33 Team Takes Point Lead After Kansas Win:
For the first time in the 2008 NASCAR Truck Series season, Hornaday and the Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI) No. 33 Camping World Chevrolet Silverado team sits atop the point standings. After their win at Kansas Speedway on April 26, 2008, the team jumped two spots from third and has a 61-point lead over Rick Crawford and the No. 14 team.

Rick Ren Leads Active Crew Chiefs With 16 Wins:
Rick Ren has achieved much success in his career as a NASCAR crew chief. He's been to Victory Lane with numerous drivers, led two drivers to Rookie of the Year awards and was the 2007 NASCAR Truck Series championship crew chief. Ren recently added another achievement to his résumé: the winningest active Truck Series crew chief. He has 16 victories in the Truck Series and is currently tied for third with Rich Burgess on the all-time crew chief career wins list, behind Dennis Connor (26 victories) and Randy Goss (20).

From The Driver's Seat - Quotes From Ron Hornaday:
On racing at Lowe's Motor Speedway: "We've had some good races at Lowe's the past couple of years. We had a top-five run there in 2006 and won last year. That was the first win for me and Rick Ren both at that track. Lowe's is a lot like Atlanta and Texas where you can carry really good speed out of the turns. We have a lot of momentum going into this race and we're looking for another strong run."

On the win at Kansas and taking over the NTS points lead:  "It was a lot of fun. I was going to try and make a race out of it and Sprague almost caught me. But it was awesome. We unloaded fast went and sat on the pole and ran out front all day. We're leading the points now and that's great, but we've got the whole season ahead of us. We just have to keep working hard and do what we're doing to be there at the end."

Atop The Pit Box - Quotes from Rick Ren:
On racing at Lowe's Motor Speedway: "I really like Lowe's. I've been pretty successful there and finally got my first win last year. Lowe's is so much like Atlanta and Texas and the set-up you want at Lowe's is very similar to what you have the other two. It's a fast race track and usually has great racing. Last year, we qualified decent and got to the front and just stayed there. It's pretty cool to win at Lowe's."

On becoming the most winning active Truck Series crew chief: "It's a great accomplishment and it says a lot about the drivers and teams that I've worked with in the past. I didn't realize it until one of my wife's family members called and said something about it. When I retire, I'd like to be the most winning crew chief in Truck Series history. I have 16 wins right now, so I need a few more before I can achieve that goal."

Previous race recap:
Hornaday and the No. 33 Camping World team notched their first win of the 2008 NASCAR Truck Series season in dominating fashion at Kansas Speedway on April 26, 2008. Starting from the pole and leading 136 of the 167 laps, Hornaday crossed the finish line ahead of KHI teammate Jack Sprague for a KHI sweep of the top two spots. The win extended Hornaday's lead as the all-time winningest Truck Series driver with 34 victories.
