BUSCH: Rowdy Returns to the Trucks at Lowe's
Kyle Busch returns to the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Friday night for the
running of the North Carolina Education Lottery 200 (134 laps, 201 miles) race
at the Lowe's Motor Speedway. Busch was last in the No. 51 Miccosukee Resorts
Toyota Tundra at the Martinsville Speedway where a last lap spin sent the team
home without their first top-five finish in 2008.
Busch gave up the 2008 NCTS Driver Championship points lead when a conflict of
scheduling with the another NASCAR Premier Touring Series caused him to miss the
fourth race of the season in Kansas. Busch dropped to the sixth place position,
130 points out of the lead. A point's deficit Busch is planning on working on
this weekend. Shane Sieg did a superb job when he stepped in the No.51
Miccosukee Resorts Tundra at Kansas. Despite Sieg's solid top-20 finish, Ballew
lost the owners championship lead, but only by a mere 21 points.
"We are really out here to get Billy Ballew Motorsports an owner's
championship," Busch said. "If we can get close enough with having to miss a few
races, we have every intention of running for a drivers' championship as well.
These guys every day are working so hard to bring this equipment to the track
and Billy has really stuck in there for all these years. I would love to win a
championship with them."
Busch has posted two wins in 2008 for the Billy Ballew Motorsports team and
heads to the Lowe's Motor Speedway to try for his third. Busch has already had
two back to back wins at the 1.5-mile speedway for Ballew in 2005 and 2006 but
issues with the tires kept him from victory lane in 2007 instead posting an 11th
place finish.
"It felt like we were over traveling on the right front tire," Busch said. "Or
that we had a wheel bearing going or something, but it was a loose wheel. We did
have some tire inconsistencies, but the truck was starting to come in there at
the end and we just ran out of laps."
Ballew, Busch and crew chief Richie Wauters will celebrate three years of racing
together this weekend. Busch's first start for Ballew was in 2005 where he won
the event. Busch is the only NASCAR driver to have double Premier Touring Series
wins at the 1.5-mile Lowes Motor Speedway
Busch will also be launching his much anticipated Rowdy Busch line of truck and
super late model apparel on May 19th. The line will be sold on
www.rowdybusch.com.
