BODINE: Crash Ends Kansas Victory Hopes
TruckSeries.com Report Printer Version

  Discuss

Todd Bodine looked to be on track to collect his second runner up finish of the season at Kansas Speedway. The performance showed the strength and resilience of the Lumber Liquidators crew as the team fought hard keep the truck's adjustments on pace with the changing track conditions at Kansas Speedway.  Bodine ran as high as second and finished 23rd after a late-race crash.

"The Germain Racing no. 30 Lumber Liquidators crew worked their tails off this weekend. We made a lot of adjustments, especially to the shocks, and the crew got the Tundra really close to being a winning race truck this weekend," said Bodine, whose last victory at Kansas Speedway was in 2005.

The Lumber Liquidators Tundra was strong off of the trailer, but the track lost grip as the weekend progressed and made most teams scramble to catch up.

"We were really close when we unloaded. When the track lost grip, we just got worse.  In qualifying we ran it wide open - as fast as it was going to run.  With the adjustments we made during the race, the Lumber Liquidators Tundra was quite good," said Bodine, who qualified tenth.

A late race incident ended Bodine's hopes for a runner-up finish, but Bodine said even though his truck was running very fast near the end of the race, he didn't feel it was enough to beat race winner Ron Hornaday Jr.

"We had the Lumber Liquidators Tundra running as fast as the leader there at the end, but even if we had a restart, Ron would've won. We were too aero-tight behind him," said Bodine.  "I made an error in judgement near the end of the race when I was passing the no. 09 truck. I was expecting to make the pass on the low side, clean, but he raced me into the corner and took the air off my spoiler and turned us around."

Todd Bodine is now third in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series point standings.  He and Germain Racing will next take to the track on May 9th at Darlington Raceway with the no. 03 Germain Motor Company Camry in the NASCAR Nationwide Series, followed by more Truck Series action in the Lumber Liquidators Tundra on Friday night at Lowe's Motor Speedway on May 16th.
