MARKS: Ready for Rematch at AMS
TruckSeries.com Report Printer Version

  Discuss

Raybestos Rookie of the Year candidate Justin Marks made his NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series debut at Atlanta Motor Speedway last fall. He progressed through his four-race program to collect a top-ten finish in last year's season finale. Marks, of Rocklin, Cal., this year with a top-ten finish and highest-finishing rookie award in the season opener. With races under his belt, Marks is ready for the high-speed, drafting action of Atlanta Motor Speedway.

"Atlanta is a fun track. I'm looking forward to racing the Crocs Tundra," said Marks.  "I really like the big, fast tracks. I'm excited about going back to the track where I made my first start the Truck Series. We're bringing a truck pretty similar to primary the truck we took to Atlanta last fall. Atlanta is one of the driver's tracks. It's a tough challenge for the teams to get the setup right and there are a lot of things the driver can do with the truck out there to work with the truck."

Jason Overstreet leads the #9 Germain Racing team efforts. Marks says the biggest thing that's changed since his last Atlanta race is improved communication with the race team.

"A driver and crew need to be able to work together to get the truck setup right," said Marks. "I think that Jason and I have really come along in communicating what I need the truck to do to go fast."

For Marks, the air of Atlanta makes the track a lot of fun to drive.

"Atlanta is one of those tracks where the air is really important - side force, etc. Having the experience of a couple races under my belt should make me a more competitive racer throughout the entire run," said Marks.

Overstreet has prepared a brand new race Tundra for Atlanta's 130-lap race on Friday night.

In addition to Truck Series competition, Marks and Germain Racing competed in the ARCA RE/MAX Series season opener at Daytona, with Marks starting from the pole position.  Marks is planning to run again in ARCA when the series races at Rockingham Speedway. More races could make it on the schedule if sponsorship needs are met.
